Gehlot has written in his X handle: “Meena’s cause (of agitation) is undoubtedly noble, he wants the state government to pay more compensation to families of the deceased in the Piplodi school building collapse. However, I came to know that fasting for long has adversely affected his health adversely.”
He said since Meena has been agitating in public interest, Chief Minister Sharma should persuade him to break his hunger strike.
Gehlot also appealed to Meena to break his hunger strike as his sentiments and demand, which have attracted the public attention, has been taken note of.
The collapse of the school buildings on July 25, 2025 had left seven children dead and 27 others injured. Among other leaders, Naresh Meena too had rushed to Piproli village for relief and rescue operation. While helping the injured and their families at Jhalawar Hospital, he raised slogans and had a faceoff with the police. He was arrested and under judicial custody for almost two months.
Soon after his release on bail recently, he went on a hunger strike.
